Renewal and Rest

Carers of people with dementia sometimes face problems in finding appropriate respite services that meet their needs as well as the needs of the person they care for.

The R 'n R Programme is for the provision of support and respite to carers of people who have dementia:

  • which causes significant behavioural difficulties
  • who live in rural asnd remote areas of South Australia

Aim

The aim of the R 'n R Programme is to contribute to the support and maintenance of caring relationships between carers and their dependent family members or friends by:

  • Facilitating access to information
  • Planning appropriate respite care
  • Provision of respite care

An integral part of the R 'n R Programme is that carers and the person they care for are supported and encouraged to participate in community activities and the community is encouraged to welcome and support that person.

Staff will take a respectful approach to working with carers and the people they care for, taking into account cultural, social, emotional, sexual and spiritual factors when addressing the needs of each person.
